Summer Substitute as Production Leader

The Stockholm West operational area in the picturesque Ekerö municipality includes the open prison Svartsjö, the women’s prison Färingsö, and the detention center Färingsö. About 170 employees and ten managers manage, lead, and develop the operations that accommodate around 270 inmates. The largest professional group is prison officers, but there are also healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, and production leaders working here.

The inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, and work within wood and crafts industry, packaging/assembly, and ecological farming with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. They also run a farm shop where self-produced goods such as plants and crafts are sold. The two prisons are located close to each other and are easily accessible by bus or car. Free parking is available for staff.

Having a job is an important part of preparing for a functioning life after serving a sentence. As a production leader, you are a key person in this work, leading, supporting, and motivating the inmates in their daily activities and contributing to creating structure, responsibility, and development in everyday life.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a summer substitute as a production leader and together with our inmates be responsible for the production of the operations, primarily in our craft workshop but also within carpentry, agriculture, and animal husbandry.

As a production leader, you are responsible for planning, leading, and following up on the daily work.

You set goals, supervise, and document the inmates' efforts, and ensure that facilities and machines are maintained correctly and safely. The role also involves participating in the practical production work yourself. Together with your colleagues, you are involved in production planning and contribute to the development and efficient operation of the business.

You collaborate closely with other professional groups in the prison and contribute to the development and motivation of the inmates. Because even though our production should be economically sustainable, it is not profit and volume that are our primary goals. Our work is about creating social value and giving people better conditions when they return to society.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You collaborate well with others and have clear, well-founded values. In stressful situations, you remain calm and have the ability to make wise judgments and priorities. You also have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and can adapt your communication style based on the recipient's conditions. The role also requires you to have a physical ability that allows you to act if the situation demands it.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school qualifications or equivalent education with a focus on carpentry, agriculture/animal husbandry, ceramics, sewing, or another craft profession
• At least 2 years of work experience
• Good Swedish in both spoken and written form

It is advantageous to have:

• Experience in any of the following: carpentry, agriculture/animal husbandry, ceramics, sewing, or another craft profession
• Experience as a supervisor or mentor
• Experience in educational work
• Experience in prison service, security work, social care, or another area within the social sector
• Forklift license
• Driver's license for passenger cars
